ESPN has announced that the 2010 World Series of Poker season will be aired starting tonight at 8 p.m. ET. This is one of the most popular poker events in the world and the first two-hour episode will be all about the $50,000 Players Championship. A total of 116 poker players played in the poker tournament that featured a $5.6 million prize with $1.5 million going to the winner.

In year 2010 the format chosen for the $50,000 Players Championship was an eight-game format. Three poker variations, pot-limit Omaha, Deuce to seven lowball and No-limit Texas Hold’em, were added to the popular H.O.R.S.E. format that comprises Texas Hold’em, Omaha eight or better, Razz, Seven-card stud and Seven card stud eight or better.

The final table of the poker tournament presented a group of great poker players including John Juanda, Daniel Alaei, David Oppenheim, David Baker, Mikael Thuritz and Vladimir Shchemelev. A special touch was given by brothers Michael Mizrachi and Robert Mizrachi who brought some sibling rivalry to the table.

Every Tuesday from tonight and until 9 November, the big day for the WSOP Main Event final table, will be poker night in sport channel ESPN. Lon McEachern and Norman Chad will be back this season to call the action in the show. Each episode will last two hours, plenty of time for poker fans to enjoy the best poker in the world.
