Jake Cody is the winner of the WPT London

British poker player Jake Cody added a new title to his career, he recently won the European Poker Tour Deauville, by winning the World Poker Tour London Poker Classic main event. Cody won the top prize of £273,783 and also the chance to win poker’s Triple Crown, because all he needs now is a World Series of Poker bracelet.

“This is crazy – I am so happy to win my first WPT title,” Cody said. “It’s been an amazing year for me so far and to win a major tournament on UK soil is very special.” The £5,000+£300 buy-in poker tournament included players such as EPT winner Toby Lewis and Irish Open champion James Mitchell, but Cody easily made it to the final table.

WPT commentator Mike Sexton had good comments about the young player: “Jake Cody is an outstanding young player and mark my words when you see this action on television this final table is something very special. I rate it is amongst the best poker I have seen in nine years commentating for the WPT. This is going to be a real treat when it airs, I can hardly wait.”

Though the main event ended, poker action continued at the Palm Beach Casino with the £15,000 High Roller WPT London Poker Classic. The winner was Justin “BoostedJ” Smith, who beat Tony G heads up with in the final table, where also played Bruno Fitoussi and Freddy Deeb.
