The Main Event of the World Series of Poker, which is considered the most important tournament in the world of poker, started today in Las Vegas, Nevada. This event draws far more players than any other poker event and during the past years at least 5,000 poker players have entered the championship for a chance to win the big jackpot.
According to the organizers of the event, more than 6,000 poker players are expected to show up this year, which leads to the first day of the tournament to be divided over four days. On 12th July, the different player fields will combine in one after being divided during the first four days of the poker tournament.
The $10,000 buy-in Main Event of the WSOP will continue until 17th July with the nine-player final table. All players who enter the poker championship have the possibility of taking home a guaranteed prize of more than $1 million. Competition will be tough since the main event gathers some of the best poker players in the world.
The Main Event field will include young poker players who want to continue what seems to be a trend in recent years. Two year ago, Peter Eastgate from Denmark became the youngest poker champion ever at age 22. Last year, his record was beaten by USA poker player Joe Cada aged 21 years old.
